Create components in Figma

 

Components can be simple as shapes, buttons or fields, or more complex design like cards and menus.

You can create a component out of any collection of  objects or layers. For example, you build a design with lot of components and you’ll  find the need for components that are similar to each other. So, from this we get better information i.e.  creating components leads to reuse in designs.

Components classifies in two types:

• Single component
• Components in bulk

 

Create a single component

First you’ll need to select the layers you had like to include in the component. There are few ways to create a component:-

1. 1. Select the layers you’d like to be included in the component.
      -> Right-click on your selection and choose Create component.
   2. You can also use keyboard shortcuts :
      -> Windows:   Ctrl + Alt + K
   3. Click  ‘ … ‘ these dots next to the selection’s name in the properties panel > Create component.

 

Create Components in bulk

You can also create components in bulk. This allows you to select multiple groups or frames and create components out of them.
Create multiple components by following these steps below:

1. Select the layers you want to create components from,
2. Click the ‘…‘ next to the selection’s name in the properties panel.
3. Select Create Multiple components from the options.
4. Figma will create a component for each frame , group, or path .

 

Delete a component

You can delete a component at any time

Deleting a main component does not remove instances of that component from your files.

1. Select the component you want to delete.
2. Press delete.
